"Live simply that others might simply live!" - Elizabeth Seaton
Abstract of compassionate heart holding child
"Each one of us is accountable for our actions and choices or lack of action in choice. Each one of us is responsible for what we do or do not do. In truth, what becomes most important is, the reason behind why we chose to do or not to do."

The Board - Officers & Advisors

There are no paid board members, and Advisory members are not paid either; but, their expert advice is highly valued. There will in due course be a small professional staff, but that will not take place until a permanent location is established, and staffing is needed in a very deliberate progression.

We understand the level of devotion this will take personally. We understand that financial donations must sustain these objectives in a time of national stress. But we also know the level of involvement from donors when the objectives lift people out of suffering with very real contributions toward their recovery, both physically and mentally.

Each member of our originating board has been actively served through personal medical treatment at UVA Medical Center for several years. One member has been a Chaplain volunteer for several years. There are no personal gain arrangements for any member of this nonprofit with the UVA Health System. We are all of one mind that the institution, which is the University of Virginia and its Medical Center, is the foundation upon which this community exists. We have a responsibility to project the very human qualities it can extend to all who travel here, especially the most vulnerable.

There will always be "unmet" needs, and those "gaps" are noticeable by staff and volunteers. There is a point where some unmet needs simply do not have a fund or personnel to handle matters. People with ideas and devotion to service are most often the answer to filling these gaps; one person, one group at a time.

We are pleased to announce that we are a certified participant and member of the GuideStar USA national database for trusted non-profit verification, and we are certified as members on the national donation center organization, Network For Good.  We invite you to check these sites as well for more specific information and updated company profile. Locally, IHS is an active participant and member of the Center for Non-Profit Excellence (CNE) in Charlottesville, VA.
