Abstract art of compassion
"Dedicate some of your life to others. Your dedication will not be a sacrifice. It will be an exhilerating experience because it is an intense effort applied towards a meaningful end."

- Dr. Thomas Dooley

What's Our Future Vision?

Our long-term goal (a short-term reality, we hope) is to acquire a farm property with outbuildings near Charlottesville, and there to establish lodging structures, a central dining facility (perhaps in a large farmhouse initially), and a chapel or meeting hall used for multiple programs. In addition, we intend to initiate a sustainable farming operation to supply food for the farm's dining facility.

We envision a thriving, tranquil, and welcoming environment.

Counseling programs will be developed at the meeting hall and/or chapel to provide for the emotional needs of all those served. Comprehensive assistance cannot be provided until a permanent setting is established.

With purposeful planning, the chapel and outdoor areas can also be used for income-producing activities (weddings, memorials, meetings, etc), with the proceeds going directly to the organization.

In this interfaith environment, visitors will never be judged. All are welcome. People of spiritual and religious convictions will receive appropriate counsel. If a religious specialist or psychologist is needed, assistance from among an abundance of qualified professionals will be obtained.

With purposeful planning, this tranquil farm may not only reach its primary goals, but also be the site of one-day outings for  patients from UVA Rehab, AIDS groups, and nursing homes. Such outings may literally "raise one's spirit and feed it simultaneously." We are hopeful that the philanthropy of a person, group or business, will extend to the donation of such a setting, a small to medium-size farm.

Most who support non-profit charities may fully understand the following, but please allow us to repeat an important point. That is, the farm project will be the property of the non-profit corporation, and used solely for the purposes reiterated herein. These objectives are clearly stated in the articles of incorporation and in information filed with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) as part of the application (approved) for IHS's status as a non-profit charity.

Interfaith Humanitarian Sanctum, Inc. must operate solely according to the incorporation document. When present officers decide to step aside, the board will appoint persons who will replace them, and they will be obligated to continue the charity and its physical operation and programs.
